Hi, Hopefully this is the right sort of question for this list, otherwise let me know and I'll head to debian-user. I'm having troubles with the dvd writer in my notebook. Sometimes dvds don't read at all (xine segfaults), writing cds tends to lock things up - if I try and do anything else while writing a cd, there can be corruption of the data written. Also, ripping from audio cds is often very slow, but I am not sure if this is connected, since the errors shown below do not appear. It does not make any difference whether dma is on or off or what the dma mode is. While accessing the drive, the syslog is filled with this sort of stuff: ... Is there anyway I can check for hardware problems without trying it in a machine running a different OS? cheers dc (Please CC me) -- David Purton dcpurton@chariot.net.au For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. 2 Chronicles 16:9a
