I'm running 2.6.15 with fglrx driver. I have got a backtrace about the Xorg process.
I'm running a toshiba M30X laptop (if you need more information, mail me). And this
happen at startup when gdm starts Xorg.

Hello,

first of all, the fglrx driver is non-free and taints the kernel. The
debian kernel-team does not support non-free modules, so I am closing
this bug.

I have the very same problem on my ati based laptop; I am currently
staying with 2.6.14 and an older Xorg on that box, waiting for ATI to=20
release a fixed driver.=20

Unfortunately, this is the sort of trouble you and me have to cope if=20
we use non-free drivers.=20
