Well, with the latest upload I moved the config files out below /etc
and I believe it should be relatively obvious from reading those how to
add hooks.

It is not as elegant as the hooks in initramfs-tools, though - but I
suspect that it is even possible to mimic the initramfs-hooks and still
have control of the remaining parts through the config file (which on
the other hand also means that problem resolving can be a real mess -
yaird should probably add a BTS hook to report if the config files
have been edited locally).
