If you define "regular" as "from CD", then yes.

d-i initrds contain the bare minimum of software required to access a
repository and retrieve the rest of d-i.

That's the actual ramdisk size, calculated based on the size of the initrd.

Unfortunatly "modprobe tulip tulip_debug=4" produces nothing additional
in dmesg.
