Hello kernel team,

Thank you for help in trying to track down this problem. However, I'm
afraid that, if this problem is in fact in the kernel, it's not really
appropriate for Debian to handle.

In order to get this optical drive to work at all, I have to do some
patching. <include/linux/libata.h> has this line:

  #undef ATA_ENABLE_ATAPI

I have to #define that for Linux to recognize the drive. So unless there's
some way to change this setting via .config that I haven't figured out, I
don't think it's possible to reproduce this in a Debian kernel. The drive
would not be accessible at all.

If that's the case, I'd be happy to talk to upstream myself about it.
Talking to the SATA maintainers would probably be my best bet; if you could
suggest the best way to reach them, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you,
