Bug#291725: Acknowledgement (kernel-image-2.4.27-2-k6: spontaneous reboot after NET4: Unix domain sockets 1.0/SMP for Linux NET4.0)

When I removed "hdc=ide-scsi" from the kernel command line the kernel booted normally. I was surprised to discover that the ide-scsi driver still loads and is associated to hdc without that kernel option. When did "hdc=ide-scsi" become unnecessary?
