Indeed... Sorry for not checking bugs on packages built from the same 
source than the one I use.

I booted kernel-image-2.6.8-1-k7 (2.6.8-4) and tried k3b as root, as 
#274860 implies only ordinary users will experience this bug. I found 
it properly detects the writer as able to write CD-Rs and CD-RWs 
under this kernel when k3b is run as root.

On another note, unfortunately revision -5 of kernel-image-2.6.8-1-k7 
does not help fixing my problem. I still need to be root to get k3b 
to properly recognize my CD writer as actually able to write CDs.

I'll try to apply the patches proposed on bug #277083 later, and 
follow up my results.
Let me know if there's anything else you might want me to try.
