Thanks, this appears to be a duplicate of Bug#277083 and Bug#274860.
kernel-source-2.6.8 2.6.8-8 (kernel-image-2.6.8-1-k7 2.6.8-5) includes a
fix that may help to resolve this problem. If you are able to verify
this one way or the other I would be most grateful. The bug report
for Bug#277083 includes a discussion of the cause of the problem
and some relevant patches.
