I forgot to provide the output of installing a kernel-image package,
Setting up kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686-smp (2.6.8-3) ...
cp: cannot stat `/usr/lib/e2initrd_helper': No such file or directory
ldd: /usr/lib/e2initrd_helper: No such file or directory
Not touching initrd symlinks since we are being reinstalled (2.6.8-3)
Not updating image symbolic links since we are being updated (2.6.8-3)
Searching for GRUB installation directory ... found: /boot/grub .
Testing for an existing GRUB menu.list file... found: /boot/grub/menu.lst .
Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.8-1-686-smp
Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.27-1-686-smp
Updating /boot/grub/menu.lst ... done
Also I installed version 1.35-6 of e2fslibs/e2fsprogs and the problem doesn't
occur. So it was introduced in 1.35-7.
Thanks,
