Bug#263316: kernel-image-2.6.7-1-686-smp: kobject_register oops during modprobe

Package: kernel-image-2.6.7-1-686-smp
Severity: normal

On a newly-installed Dell PowerEdge 2600 I get the following on boot:

The machine continues to boot happily, however.

When I boot a Dell PowerEdge 2650, however, it produces similar problems
trying to modprobe for aic7xxx and hangs (sorry I can't provide a trace -
it never gets to mount a filesystem). It doesn't have an Adaptec SCSI card.

Note that there is no problem booting with kernel-image-2.6.6-2-686-smp on
either of these machines.
