I've hesitated to reply hoping that Christian (cts), the m68k debian kernel maintainer, would add his thoughts. However, he's at a conference. m68k/mac has never worked to any real extent on 2.4. I think you can probably mark that bug wontfix, because I don't think anyone is really working on 2.4 for m68k/mac. When 2.6 is fully working, maybe we'll see a backport. Several of the other subarchs such as amiga, atari, and sometimes vme, work well with 2.4. 2.6 work is ongoing and the mac is much better supported there, except with regards to adb (keyboard/mouse). So as long as you don't touch the keyboard, I understand it works pretty well (well enough to run one of our buildds). A rewrite of the adb subsystem is underway. Hopefully at that point, m68k/mac can move back into the present. We, the m68k porters, have recently added some vme and atari hardware to our collection of macs and amigas, so I hope better support for those subarchs to be forthcoming. In short, I don't think you need to worry about m68k until Christian is ready to merge his stuff with ya'll. -- Stephen R. Marenka If life's not fun, you're not doing it right! <stephen@marenka.net>
