I just wanted to comment that I went from a kernel that I built (2.6.5)
to the debian kernel-image-2.6.7-2 on a 667mhz PowerBook G4, and
Discover/hotplug took care of everything, and that I'm quite happy with
the package.. it had both the coda and oprofile modules ;)

I also want to note that the upgrade from woody to sarge 2.4.x
kernels on x86 never went particularly well, and I always needed to add
modules to /etc/modules before ethernet would work.

Hopefully we can get discover/hotplug fixed for everything and not have
this problem.
