Subject: no initrd: panic on boot Package: kernel-image-2.6.6-i386 Version: 2.6.6-2 Severity: grave Tags: sid On two of my PIII systems (one server, one desktop) I've installed the 2.6.6-2-686 package which fails to boot. Just when accessing the initrd the error messages run over the screen too fast to read. It fails to load modules and thus end in a panic. 2.6.6-1-686 works fine for both. The grub entry looks fine: title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.6-2-686 root (hd0,4) kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.6-2-686 root=/dev/hda5 ro initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.6-2-686 savedefault boot The systems are otherwise completey sid. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (600, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.6-1-686 Locale: LANG=de_DE, LC_CTYPE=de_DE Versions of packages kernel-image-2.6.6-2-686 depends on: ii coreutils [fileutils] 5.0.91-2 The GNU core utilities ii fileutils 5.0.91-2 The GNU file management utilities ii initrd-tools 0.1.70 tools to create initrd image for p ii module-init-tools 3.1-pre2-1 tools for managing Linux kernel mo -- no debconf information -- http://counter.li.org/cgi-bin/runscript/display-person.cgi?user=214656 http://wwwkeys.pgp.net:11371/pks/lookup?op=vindex&search=0x7A56501D ICQ # 75570407
