In order to have a *log*, you can do (in a terminal):
akonadictl restart

Also, you might want to delete the considered account, and recreate it from 
scratch using the "wizard".

Also there have been lots of work done[*] concerning the support of *gmail* 
lately, with bugs however (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379131).
