KMail 4.12: Still not ready

Hi,

I've read some reports that KMail 4.12 was working well for people. I was
looking forward to seeing it in Sid, hoping things would be better. I'm said
to say, I find this not to be the case.

Bug 259813[1] still makes the "unread" status filter unusable.
I still see the bugs where messages are duplicated, and even the infamous bug
310899 "Resource KMail Folders is broken. This resource is now online"[2]
still raises its ugly head.

Beyond this, there are two things that look like design decisions: The loss of
the distinction between "new" and "unread" messages, and the behavior of tabs
in response to clicks on mail folders. In KMail 1, folders could only be open
in one tab -- so clicking mouse-button-1 (usually left-click) on a folder
meant "go to folder's tab if exists, otherwise change current tab to folder"
and mouse-button-2 (middle button) meant "go to folder's tab if exists,
otherwise open folder in a new tab". In KMail 2, folders can be open in many
tabs (a new feature), and the click-on-folder semantics was made "simpler"
(MB1 is "change current tab to clicked folder" and MB2 is "open folder in new
tab"). Which seems great, except that it's made clicking folders essentially
useless: I find that it almost never does what I want, where the previous,
"complicated" semantics was just right.

Those, to me, are the main problems with KMail2. 4.12 makes some improvements,
but doesn't really solve any of them. I keep using it at home, but not in
environments which I consider "production".

Thought some of you might be interested,

	Shai.
