I use xrandr 1.4.1 and have a Nvidia card on my
slackware system.

If you call xrandr with no parameters the user
should see what video ports are available.
Here is what I get:

 xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1024 x 768,
maximum 8192 x 8192

DVI-I-0 disconnected primary (normal left
inverted right x axis y axis)

VGA-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x
axis y axis)

DVI-I-1 connected 1024x768+0+0
(normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 480mm
x 270mm
1920x1080 60.0 +
1440x900 59.9
1280x1024 75.0 60.0
1280x800 59.8
1152x864 75.0
1024x768 70.1* 60.0
800x600 60.3 56.2
640x480 59.9

I use XFCE instead of KDE most of the time but
xrandr works with either.
