Can it be customly modified? I think KDE checks the kdm configuration file if this is enabled. So if this is the case it will check the one fo your 3.4 installation and it might have it disabled. Try moving the configuration file to a backup and the copying the one from /etc/kde3 over. Cheers, Kevin
