Following your suggestion, I tried a fontconfig reconfiguration, fc-cache -f
-v and then restarted X. 

But things still remains what it was. How many fonts options are there in
your konsole? I got only six choices on Sarge. 

Anyone out there has more than six font selctions? how do you do that?
