Service '...' malformatted

Since a recent upgrade (tracking testing, mostly), when I click on a
button on the KDE panel I get an error like

Service
'/var/lib/menu-xdg/applications/menu-xdg/emacs_21_(x11).desktop' is
malformatted

menu-xdg was among the recent upgrades, but I'm not sure where this is
coming from.  Is anyone else seeing this?  Anyone know where it's
coming from?  For example, is Service ... malformatted a KDE error?

I originally created the button by right-clicking on the panel and
adding an application from the menu.

If I delete and recreate the button it works OK.
