works with KDE 3.2.2 smoothly (and with lyx-qt as well; the one from 
download.kde.org).

Go for aptitude -- I could not imagine that I would try to fix everything 
just with apt-get. Not only that it has better conflict management 
algorithms, but you can play with settings as much as you need (so I was 
able to resolve even ugly dialog problem you described).

There are packages for 4.3.0 @ download.kde.org -- it's better to use them.
