kde non-root access (via kdm) is broken (I get TWM)

Hello all,

I know this is an "old-question", but I couldn't find the "old-answer" ;-)

1) If I choose any non-root user kdm doesn't load kde.
All I get is the TWM window manager.
Oddly enought if I open an xterm and I run startkde ...it starts but the
window manager is TWM. :-|

2) If I choose to login as root everythings works well.

3) If I close the xserver and login as non-root user
then startx works ! (kde runs fine).

I can I fix kdm login for non-root users ?

Thanks for any suggestion.

Gabriele Persia.

P.S. please reply off-list too.
