Sorry - I meant to point out that the article itself doesn't mention
the 'chown root.root /tmp/.ICE-unix' thing discussed often here (e.g.
at
http://lists.debian.org/debian-kde/2003/debian-kde-200304/msg00183.html)
which seems to be popularly cited as the single best KDE speedup that
you can apply.  In fact the article only considers compiler
optimisations AFAICT, and is therefore hardly a comprehensive speedup
guide - but seems good advice nonetheless.
