KDE 3.1 status report
I just made the leap from Ralf Nolden's excellent packages for Woody, which I'd been
using on Sid, to Sid's own, including those still waiting in the wings at
http://people.debian.org/~ccheney/kde-other. I had to do four or five "force"
dependency overrides for the packages to install (arts libraries, konsole, and
kontrol), but the packages seem to be working great and seem to play well with the
rest of sid.
These are the packages that got removed, so this is the list of packages that still
need an update. The only ones I happen to really miss is kaddressbook and korganizer,
which I kept on another machine; your needs may differ.
eog2 firestarter gcompris gdm2 gedit gkdial-gnome gnome-apt gnome-gv gnome-session
gnomemeeting gnumeric gtetrinet gthumb2 gtm kaddressbook kalarm kalarmd kandy karm
kdcop kdeartwork-screensaver kdebugdialog kdecarddecks kdepim kdepim-libs
kfile-audio-plugins kfile-graphics-plugins kfract khotkeys kio-audiocd kioslave
kljettool klpq klprfax knotes korganizer kpilot ksync kwifimanager kxkb
libbonoboui2-0 libbonoboui2-common libeel2-2 libeel2-data libfam0 libgnome2-0
libgnomeui-0 libgnomevfs2-0 libgnomevfs2-common libkcal2 libkgantt0
libpanel-applet2-0 libqt3-mt seahorse
For some reason a lot of gnome apps went the wrong way; if I try to install
gnomemeeting, for instance, I get this:
Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
gnomemeeting:
Depends: libbonoboui2-0 (>= 2.2.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgnome2-0 (>= 2.1.90) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgnomeui-0 (>= 2.1.90) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgnomevfs2-0 (>= 2.2.0) but it is not going to be installed
E: Sorry, broken packages
Cheers,
Peter

Try the kdenetwork packages from "deb
http://people.debian.org/~ccheney/kde-other ./". They will allow a full
installation of a functioning kmail and knode clients.
