Do you use TrueType-fonts, and the Windows-font-dir (i.e.:
/mnt/windows/windows/fonts) in your FontPath (No matter if via X-FontServer
or directly)? If so: Get rid of it and everything will work fine! I don't
know why, but this setting kills kicker permanently, and if not, the
panel-applet don't work (in my specific way it was knewsticker). Its got
nothing to do with themes or so, as suggested to me some months ago! It must
be the fonts...
