Python Programmer (in Germany)



We're looking for a Python software engineer / programmer working full
time in one of our locations in Berlin, or Nuremberg Germany, or

Job Description
---------------

You're taking over tasks in our system engineering team doing cloud
controller software development. We are are cloud service / managed
hosting provider for enterprises, and we're running our own software
stack for virtualization. Our customers and our internal system
administration department are using that software to orchestrate their
virtual machines.

Your job is the development and improvement of a software orchestration
controller written in Python to automate deployment and management of
virtual machines based entirely on open source software and components
such as Xen, open vSwitch and Debian.

Profile
-------

You are an experienced Python programmer with knowledge beyond web
application development. Moreover, you have a degree in computer science
or any other comparable education. That being said, we appreciate
applications of junior programmers.

You are comfortable with the Linux command line, and you're skilled in
using Debian GNU/Linux in particular. Moreover, you are possibly
involved in open source projects already.

It's desirable if you have experience with machine virtualization based
on Xen, network virtualization with Open vSwitch, the LVM architecture
in Linux, and technologies such as DRBD, NBD, NFS or iSCSI.

You are capable problem oriented and agile autonomously, and you can
spot and solve problems without instructions, but you are also a team
worker able to bring your own ideas. We expect your willingness to learn
new technologies, and an affinity for free and open software.

You have experiences with version control systems (git) and project
management based principles and working styles. Some base knowledge of
quality assurance / test driven development is also helpful.

However, as a final note, and emphasized for the job offer on this list:
You must speak English and German fluently, and you must have a work
permit for Germany or the European Union. It's highly desirable to be a
local resident of either Berlin or Nuremberg/Fürth.
