  I don't object to switching this or that package to git, when the
needs arise, and when the actual maintainers feel more comfortable
with it. Please go ahead, if it helps bringing in fresh blood !

  I object to switching globally to using git. That would simply be a
waste of time and energy.[1]

[1]: don't misunderstand me. I use git, and I enjoy it. But there's no
need changing things that work. Just change the ones that actually
need changing for a better workflow.
