~    After some hours, I have managed to get the build from source to
work for the Eclipse 3.01 release code.  If you are running Gnome and
have most of the development libraries installed, your experience may be
less cumbersome than mine.  I have catalogued the full process on the
bug report thread for this issue on the Eclipse bug tracking site[0].
~    I was able to build a sample project, compile and run it without
issue.  On a 500MHz TiBook with only 512MB RAM it actually ran pretty
well.  I have attached screenshots, but I am not sure if it will be
stripped by the list application.  I will be coppying all of my existing
Eclipse 3.01 projects over to test them tomorrow.
