Announce: OpenNMS debs

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

I would like to annouce the availability of OpenNMS debs to anyone interested
in using this excellent network management system. I've actually been
building debs for the OpenNMS group for a few months now, but I've finally
gotten them to a point where I'd like to let more people know and ask for
feedback. (For more info on OpenNMS, visit http://www.opennms.org.)

There are currently two versions of OpenNMS available: stable 1.0.2 and
unstable 1.1.1. I have built 1.0.2 for Woody, and 1.1.1 for Sid. OpenNMS
1.1.1 depends on tomcat4 4.1.18 and liblog4j 1.2.7, which is why I have not
backported it to Woody at the moment (I am working on it). I am also
providing an upgraded liblog4j at this site until its release in
Debian/unstable (no pressure Jesse :) ).

You can apt-get them from:
deb http://debian.medvantx.com/apt debian/opennms <stable|unstable>
deb-src http://debian.medvantx.com/apt debian/opennms <stable|unstable>

They should be available later today from the official OpenNMS site at:
deb http://install.opennms.org/apt debian/opennms <stable|unstable>

Please beat these things up if you wish, and please please read my TODO list
and other notes before telling me about bugs. I am well aware that there are
a lot of things to fix and improve, but I am also looking for good ideas and
feedback to help make this a great package. The debs currently make a lot of
(not really good) assumptions about your system: postgres is local, tomcat is
local, etc. In the future I intend to totally redo a lot of the
preinst/postinst stuff with debconf and try to provide some separation
between the core opennms monitoring software, the database backend, and the
web frontend. Enjoy!
