I don't use a2psj personally. What you need is conversion tool from Japanese text
to PostScript File ? And have you installed nkf ?
And, more important, do you have ghostscript which has support for Japanese ?
You need gs-ja or gs-aladdin-vflib from JP Package to handle the Kanji PS files.

If you have the PostScript Printer which has Japanese fonts, then you can check
that .ps file using it, but if you use non PostScript Printer, you do need the
Kanji enhanced ghostscript. For coming potato, I hope the gs package in Debian
can handle Kanji PS files using the patch that I filed at BTS.
