filesystem corrotto

Oggi nella fase di boot si è verificato un errore in un filesystem
(/var)
Controllando in /var/log/fsck/checkfs ho trovato questo:

Ora mi sembra di capire che è necessario lanciare manualmente :
#fsck.ext3 /dev/hda8.
Un po' inconscemente (considerando la mia ignoranza) ho dato il comando,
ma mi ritorna un avvertimento informandomi che usando il comando con i
filesystem montato è pericoloso; non si può smontare essendo occupato.
Non ho verificato quale processo lo usa, ma ho anche paura ad andare
oltre.
Potete aiutarmi?
A proposito, sembra che, comunque, tutto funzioni.
