questo e' uno dei vari motivi per cui e' caldamente consigliato
partizionare l'hd e montare la /usr su un filesystem separato da /
tipicamente io creo le partizioni:
500Mb-1Gb /
5Gb       /usr
5Gb       /usr/local
4Gb       /var
1Gb       /tmp
tutto il resto /home

in questo modo se succedono danni sulle altre partizioni, / rimane
bootabile (statisticamente parlando)

c'e' appunto scritto qui sopra:
metti la password di root
fsck /dev/hdX
reboot
