ci sono riuscito in aprile da un mio amico, usando l'emu10k1
di sourceforge.

IMHO la cosa piu' importante e' che tu non abbia seguito
il README.italian che mi sembra alquanto obsodatato
e abbastanza "un tanto un circa"; quantomeno non in linea
con il pacchetto attuale.

purtroppo anche se ho degli appunti dell'epoca, non avevo io il problema e
non
mi ricordo molto bene; tuttavia ti copio qualche pezzo di quegli appunti:

EMU10K1 MODULE INSTALLATION
===========================
- Download emu10k1 from sourceforce;
  tools are included; it is not necessary to download the emutools.targz.
- see doc/README, obviously
- you need a valid /usr/src/linux reflecting the running kernel.
- make
- make (again, yes)     <<==== !!!
- make install
- Note for Debians' users: use /etc/modutils directory,
   create file emu10k1 here with the same content as is suggested in
   the paragraph (5.) and run update-modules afterwards - this
   will create the correct /etc/modules.conf file)
- modprobe emu10k1
- lsmod   #ok, loaded.

Ecco, qua dovresti vedere bene la nota per Debian's users
verificando quanto scritto nel paragraph(5) che poi non c'e'
nel README ma ritengo si riferisca al punto 2 dell'installation
nel README, ovvero
  2. Add a new reference to the driver in /etc/modules.conf:
                  alias sound emu10k1
     solo da fare alla debian way come dice la nota sopra.

Poi tutto il resto dei miei appunti si riferisce ad uno
scambio avuto con un tizio in US per fare andare i
BASS & TREBBLE; un riassunto rapidissimo:

The solution was an audigy-script in the same directory,
that reading the emu10k1.conf set properly the audigy.
Yeah, a nice dedicated script for audigy  :-)
I modified just CARD_IS_5_1 to yes and MULTICHANNEL to no
in emu10k1.conf, and ran 'audigy-script restore'
and the aumix get the bass and trebble controls working.

ATTENTION !!! the audigy-script lies on comments!!
They are the same as emu-config script and are not full
applicable to audigy-script; check them careful.

In the screenshot attached you can see the goal.
There is still something strange, the CDrom has
Vol Regulation on Phone-In  :-/
and there is an error with libmikmod2.so but related
to xmms installed BTW, so it's not really a problem for me.
I didn't test if CD on PhoneIn control is the default
at start or after audigy-script has executed.

You can find info somewhere in README or man page of emu-dspmgr
or in the audigy-script (I don't remember now) on how to add
lines in modutils for run the audigy-script in post-install
and pre-remove (related to emu10k1) in order to restore and
save the mixer values last time used.
