sane e scanner USB

Ciao,
ho uno scanner USB Canon N670U, definito perfettamente supportato da sane
sul relativo sito, ma non riesco a farlo andare:
Big_Tits~:# sane-find-scanner
sane-find-scanner: found USB scanner (vendor = 0x04a9, product = 0x220d) at
device /dev/usb/scanner0
sane-find-scanner: found USB scanner (vendor = 0x04a9, product = 0x220d) at
device /dev/usbscanner

quindi lo parrebbe vedere...ma poi
xsane: mi dice no devices available
con
Nov 11 22:50:21 Big_Tits kernel: scanner.c: open_scanner(0): Unable to
access minor data
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 180, 48 Nov 11 20:34 /dev/usb/scanner0

oppure:
kevin@Big_Tits:~$ scanimage
scanimage: no SANE devices found

kevin@Big_Tits:~$ scanimage -d 'plustek:/dev/usb/scanner0'
scanimage: open of device plustek:/dev/usb/scanner0 failed: Error during
device I/O

qualche suggerimento ?

PS: perche' in /proc/bus/usb non ho assolutamente nulla (nemmeno quando
inserisco il pen disk usb perfettamente funzionante) ?
