Il nuovo kernel non va (hda: cannot handle device with more 16 heads - givin up)

Su un P1 con woody ho ricompilato il kernel (2.4.18).
Solo che non funziona, da' il seguente messaggio:

idee? trovando l'errore posso correggere il file di configurazione che
dev'essere salvato da qualche parte...
