Esiste una libreria (libfam) per il rilevamento delle modifiche al
filesystem, e che e` utilizzata p. es. da nautilus e konqueror.
libfam cerca sempre di connettersi a famd, ma se la connessione
fallisce e` in grado di rilevare le alterazioni al filesystem
attraverso il polling.
Insomma, famd non e` certo fondamentale (ed ha qualche problema di
sicurezza, anche se ininfluente per l'uso domestico) --- ma con famd
in esecuzione, applicazioni come nautilus e konqueror saranno piu`
veloci.
