...oppure puoi utilizzare la libreria SDL per l'audio di mplayer:
$ mplayer -ao sdl ...
SDL supporta vari driver audio (dsp, alsa, esd, arts...), e dovrebbe
utilizzare quello giusto in base all'eventuale demone audio in
esecuzione.
Se l'autorilevamento del demone audio va storto, puoi convincere SDL
ad utilizzare esd impostando la variabile d'ambiente
"SDL_AUDIODRIVER=esd".
