Chi si intende di SGML

Ho un documento in formato SGML che dovrei convertire in formato PDF.
Vedo che ho disponibile un comando db2pdf (DocBook-utils version 0.6.9
jw version 1.1) che provo ad usare:
$ db2pdf file.sgm
Ottengo una sfilza di errori (si arriva a 200, al chè si ferma tutto):

Mi metto l'animo in pace e butto via tutto, o c'è qualche modo per
mettere a posto le cose, magari con qualche utilitina in grado di
recuperare siffatti file mal-formattati?
Qualche suggerimento?
