Re: openipmi does not connect to my IBM RSA2

Hello Bjørn Mork,

Thanks for the infos...

Right, on the Website was something written about connecting the RSA2
trough an USB cable...

I have downloaded the WHOLE software and burned in CD and created Floppy
images for the x235, x335 and x345.

:-D

Question:

Stoping the x345 trough ssh with "shutdown -h now" works as expected and
I have installed "etherwake" und tried to use wakeonlan to wake up the
machine, but it does not work. I used this HOWTO:

<http://www.blog.highub.com/php/php-core/set-ubuntu-up-for-wake-on-lan/>

But it does not work, even the all thre servers (x235, x335 and x345)
support it. (I can wake them up using a Windowss 7 Laptop)

Do you know, whether I can use a script with wget, to access the RSA or
RSA2 to startup the Server?

I need to shutdoen the servers

1) for security reason
2) save energy (the servers in question have more then 3 kw/h
and with 0,2332 ¢/kwh it is too expensive)

since a huge number of servers are only used if they are needed, speak,
the do nothing some weeks and then they must give in one week all the
power it they have
