I installed net-snmp have the following in snmptrapd: traphandle .1.3.6.1.4.1.blah.bah.blah /sbin/init 0 Obviously, pay attention to security matters. Maybe your UPS generate traps, or let nagios send out traps. Alternatively, have something in inetd.conf and have this tcpwrapped or firewalled. :-) Hth. Robert
