Re: [OT] Recommendation for small Switch

What is a "switching hub"?

All switches are not created equal. The cheap switches cannot switch at anywhere close to line rate. The ports may all be labeled 100Mbit or 1Gbit, but you will never get anywhere close to that speed esp. if multiple ports are active on the cheap switches.

If you want real performance and a decent (but not rock bottom price), get a real cisco switch, or an HP procurve, or perhaps the dell switches.

No, it is a real switch, but if someone sucks big files from the
network, the other users are sloweed down to some kByte/sec.

So my idea was, to put the "clients" on a 10/100 Port and then
the Servers on the 4 GBit Ports which would solv ALL problems.
