I'd approach that by configuring two different IP networks on the same
ethernet network; one NIC in the mail server will do, using aliases to
assign two IPs to it.

E.g.:
 4mbit ADSL = 192.168.18.1
 128k line  = 192.168.36.1
 mail server = 192.168.18.72, 192.168.36.72
