..to clarify: smarthosts, as in "small smtp relay for my own wee
mailserver and MUA."  I have good pop3 service, but no non-Microsoft
smarthost except over expensively metered isdn, and I'm not comfortable
doing any serious groklaw work thru a Microsoft-controlled smtp box.  

..thanks for the pointer anyway, I'm back online and can go googling 
at least until some new asshole shoots down my wifi link.  ;o)
