Re: FC Hardware
We have been using Qlogic ones to good effect (with Hitachi Tagmastore
storage). Couldn't say the exact model except for lspci saying:
"Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. QLA2312 Fibre Channel Adapter (rev 02)"
We are using them in Dell Poweredge servers, including 1855 blade
servers.
Debian works well with them EXCEPT for a major annoyance of the qla23xx
drivers being excluded from the normal Debian kernels for licence
related reasons, however build a kernel from kernel.org and enable the
driver and all is fine. Mainly an annoyance, except RHEL "Just Works"
while especially with the SAN only blade servers getting Debian
bootstrapped on them initially was a pain.
We are also using them with Debian and Xen with success but thats
another story.
We were originally setting them up using the kernel multipath driver via
mdadm, but the Qlogic SANsurfer java tool can be used to config the
cards so all the multipath stuff is handled relatively cleanly within
the driver.
