Upgrading from woody to sarge
Hello,
I was really happy to see last 3rd of may that Sarge got frozen. Woody
became a little bit too old for hosting I think, I needed the features
of Sarge. I was wondering if some of you did some try upgrading from
woody to sarge with RAID1 software setup. I've planed to do it on all my
servers (currently maybe 10 in different locations) as soon as I did
some successful tests, and there is security support from Debian team.
Also, there is no support for qmail anymore. It's a shame, even I
support Postfix thanks to Damien Mascord work, I still want to keep
qmail. I like the way it works, and that's it. Does the old qmail-src
package for woody work well under Sarge? It seems to have dependency
problems last time I checked, so I gave up and installed Postfix2. If
some of you want to try to maintain an unofficial qmail-src package, I'm
one of them. Currently, I have a nice qmail + rbl + spp (spf +
mfdnscheck), and I wont drop it.
Also, it's to be checked, but it seems that when installing a Sarge with
raid setup, it doesn't setup grub to write the mbr on BOTH drives (it
seems it's only writing on hd0). Am I right on that point? Is that
something I'll have to add manually, or did I miss something in the
installer?
Last time I tried (few month ago), on my laptop, I had problems with
boot loader setup (it wouldn't boot), I think I missed one point, but I
can't remember which one. Any hint?
