If you by trunking mean the bonding module, yes.

5.  What happens when a slave link dies?

        If your ethernet cards support MII or ETHTOOL link status 
	monitoring and the MII monitoring has been enabled in the driver (see 
	description of module parameters), there will be no adverse 
	consequences. This release of the bonding driver knows how to 
	get the MII information and enables or disables its slaves 
	according to their link status. See section on High Availability for 
	additional information.
