We use a similar method, with all the apps just sitting at a appropiate 
level, removing the need for ReWrite:

<VirtualHost blah>
ProxyPass        /someapp http://localhost:8180/someapp
ProxyPassReverse /someapp http://localhost:8180/someapp
</VirtualHost>

If you want it to kick off the app at the root level, we just add:

Redirect    /index.html    http://www.realserver.com/someapp
