The patch is still there, and it's not going anywhere, just yet.

the correct syntax would be (off the top of my head =)
auth sufficient pam_ldap.so filter=(foo=bar)

i haven't been using the filter patch myself in a while, so it could
have been corrupted with the previous updates.
