Fw: Trying to get online

Hi!

Did you recompile the kernel yourself? If you did, remember to include PPP
in the Networking section (afai remember). Guessing from the newbiness,
thats not what you did ;-)

Anyway, most stock kernels DO include ppp by default thought. Try typing
"insmod ppp" and see what that brings up. Hopefully that will solve your
problems. However, if ppp code was already compiled into your kernel, and
yet ppp can't see it, you may have a larger problem on hand.

Jason.

Subject: Trying to get online

Hi people,

I am trying to get online with my debian box. I ran pppconfig and went
through the motions. My connection is through bartnet. After I exited the
pppconfig I tried
pon bartnet and it came up with this message.......

"/usr/sbin/pppd: This system lacks the support for PPP. This could be
because the PPP kernel module is not loaded or because the kernel is not
configured for PPP."

So what do I have to do now.

Andrew Martin

P.S. pppconfig never asked me for an "irq". Why?
