  My old laptop has a xircomm pcmcia network card which i need to put into
  promiscuous mode for it to receive the router advertisements. Guess it's
  worth a try on your box.
  
  If that doesn't work, you can check the sysconf variables in
  /proc/sys/net/ipv6. The kernel will for example ignore router advertisements
  when forwarding is turned on.
