Hello,
FWIW I have tried a build on merulo. Some build-dependecies are
missing

dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: asciidoc (>> 8.0.0) libsvn-perl | libsvn-core-perl cvsps libdbd-sqlite3-perl

but they do not seem to be essential to reproduce the error. (I simply
disabled documentation generation in debian/rules.) Loads of tests
seem to fail. buildlog on

I am out of time now, and can only throw in about half an hour in the
evening on workdays. However given clear instructions I can still act
as proxy unless somebody else with more ia64-experience and time steps
forward.
